The 14th Academic Symposium on Seismic Mitigation and Disaster Reduction Engineering was recently held in Kunming. The event was jointly hosted by the Seismic Mitigation and Disaster Reduction Engineering Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Guangzhou University, and the Yunnan Civil Engineering and Architecture Society. It was organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Kunming University of Science and Technology, the Yunnan Institute of Engineering Seismology (Yunnan Engineering Research Center for Seismic Mitigation), the journal *Engineering Science and Technology*, and the Yunnan Provincial Technology Innovation Center for Seismic Mitigation/Isolation and Smart O&M of Urban and Rural Buildings (Preparatory). shanghai hualong testing instruments Co., Ltd., a leading domestic manufacturer of seismic mitigation and isolation testing equipment, served as a co-organizer.

More than 600 renowned professors, experts, and scholars specializing in seismic mitigation and disaster reduction technology—including Du Xiuli, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Hao Hong, a Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering—gathered at the venue.

This symposium not only established an efficient platform for academic exchange among experts and scholars, fostering the sharing and cross-pollination of cutting-edge concepts and core technologies, but also promoted interdisciplinary integration and technological innovation, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of my country's seismic mitigation and disaster reduction sector.
